Adjusting the 3D perspective

How to dial in the perspective effect to match your style

This tutorial has been updated the to latest design of Rotato

Depending on the style and angle you're going for, you can adjust the strength of the perspective in Rotato's camera or use Rotato's default setting for a scene. Technically, this happens by widening or narrowing the field of view.

How to do it

  • Open the Camera sidebar section
  • Open the DSLR section
  • Adjust the Perspective value
  • Adjust the zoom by scrolling or using the camera controls

The lower the Perspective value, the less perspective effect. A low value is typically great for front views where you want to call as much attention to the display as possible, and simulate looking at the laptop as if it sat on a shelve in a store, and you've walked up to it to inspect it.

A higher value increases the perspective. This is great if you're going to mostly showcase your design from an angle, maybe with multiple devices on the scene. Some people consider a high perspective value a way to make the mockup, and, in turn, the design on the screen, look more polished and interesting.
